The Statin Drug Check Panel includes a Total Fasting Lipid Profile and a Complete Metabolic Profile that analyzes calcium, glucose, proteins, albumin, electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, carbon dioxide, chloride, kidney functions such as blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatitine, and liver functions such as ALP, AST, ALT and bilirubin. It also includes a Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) test that also screens for changes in the liver.

It is recommended that you have these tests done every three months or more frequently if your statin (cholesterol lowering medication) prescription is recent, if you are not experiencing the desired results or if you notice any troubling side effects. You should fast 8-12 hours prior to taking these tests.
